Sixth Int’l Folk Music Film Fest in the offing
The sixth iteration of the annual International Folk Music Film Festival is slated to be held in November, organiser’s have announced. This year the festival will be themed ‘Music for life, Music for Survival’ and will be held between Nov 24 and 26 in the Capital. Best Film—in the long (up to 90 mins) and short (under 30 mins) categories—will be awarded at the fest, along with accolades for the best student films. The lineup of the movies that will be screened will be announced on Sep 15, once the entries have been vetted by a committee organised by the International Folk Music Film Festival and the Nepal Board of Film Censors.
Last year’s festival—held in Nov 2015—drew entries from 18 different countries including Nepal, the US, the UK, New Zealand and Chile among others. The festival had also brought folk musicians from far-flung communities in Peru and Mali to Nepali audiences.
