The electric crematorium on the premises of Pashupati Aryaghat that had stopped working for over a week after floodwaters from the Bagmati river gushed into the machine is set to come into operation from Friday.
According to the Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT), which operates the crematorium, it has drained the water from the crematorium premises and maintenance work is underway.
Waters from the Bagmati river after heavy rains had entered the crematorium last week. “We have already drained the water and maintenance work has begun. It won’t take more than three days to bring the crematorium into operation as no substantial problem was found in the machine,” said PADT Member-Secretary Govinda Tandon.
