The performance was part of the ongoing annual NRN-America convention taking place in the city. Prior to their Atlanta performance, the band also played in Los Angeles on June 25.
The show kicked off with Nepathya’s popular number Bhedako Oon with a synchronised video and light choreography. The band then continued through classic hits like Chekyo Chekyo, Chari Maryo, Jomsome Bazaar before Amrit Gurung—the band’s frontman— talked about his travel experiences within Nepal.
“I have travelled through Nepal and I urge everyone to do the same.
It is worth the effort. Next time you come to Nepal, I urge you to walk through the hills and the mountains,” Gurung said to rapturous applause from the throngs of Nepali diaspora gathered at the venue.
The show moved ahead with Gurung sharing his experiences and opinions. “You are privileged to live in this affluent society. But by skipping a monthly dinner, you could probably sponsor education for one child in your village,” Gurung appealed.
“One of my friends came back to Nepal from the US after 22 years. By then, he had lost his grandparents. He could not be with them during their last days,” Gurung further shared, “Life is short and uncertain. While you remain here, try and think how much you are missed back home in Nepal.”
With the show, Nepathya concluded their brief tour of the US and will be heading back to Nepal on July 6.
