A doctor from the Saudi Arabia-based Saudi German Hospital has paid medical expenses of a Nepali migrant worker, ensuring his discharge from the medical facility and his return to home.
The bill amounted to Rs 15 million (510,000 riyal).
Dr Mohammad Yahaya, who was attending to Som Bahadur Magar of Lamjung, took the responsibility of paying the medical expenses, according to Hum Bahadur Magar, who was taking care of Som Bahadur.
Som Bahadur, a patient of diabetes and high blood pressure, was receiving treatment at the hospital for right-sided hemiparesis.
Magar was sent back to Nepal with the help of the Embassy of Nepal in Riyadh, the Saudi capital, on Sunday.
“The medical bill was due for three months. Dr Yahaya not only cleared the bill but also was present at the reception when Som Bahadur was discharged,” Hum Bahadur told the Post. “We were touched by his kindness. He has also provided a wheelchair to Som Bahadur,” Hum Bahadur added.
Som Bahadur had sustained serious head injuries in a fall. He was rushed to the hospital and admitted at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
He was receiving medical treatment at the hospital for the past three months.
