Tournament MVP Bijay Burja tossed in 27 points as South Siders defeated Golden Gate Club 91-78 to mark their 10-year of establishment in style. Siddharth Maharjan scored 24 points for Golden Gate. South Siders were 14-21 behind in the first quarter but fought back to claim the title.
They reduced Golden Gate’s lead to six points with a slim 24-23 cushion in the second quarter. The game turned upside down after South Siders scored 27 points in the third quarter, nine more than Golden Gate during the third quarter.
With three-point lead heading into the final quarter, South Siders dominated the decider with a 10-point (26-16) lead to seal the title.
In what served as a final in the women’s round robin league, Prime overcame White House 57-47 after Luniva Singh netted 21 points. Both teams were unbeaten heading into the last league game. Anusha Malla scored 18 points for White House.
Prime opened the game with a narrow three-point (10-7) lead but White House hit back in the second scoring 19 to that of 17 points of the Prime. But the ultimate winners Prime went on to build a seven-point lead taking the third quarter 12-6.
In a high-scoring final quarter, Prime prevailed 18-15. Singh was named the tournament MVP in the women’s category. A total of 14–eight in men’s and six in women’s–teams participated in the 11-day tournament organised by Nepal Basketball Association.
