While Bhari will compete in the Cornwall Cricket League in England with Falmouth Cricket Club, Budhayer will compete in Elite League and First Division cricket in Toronto, Canada for two different clubs.
According to the national cricket team consultant coach Pubudu Dassanayake, who initiated for the opportunity along with Cricket Players’ Association of Nepal (CPAN), Budhayer will play Elite League with Cricket Club of Canada and First Division cricket with Bloomfield Cricket Academy.
Elite League is the second tier cricket competition of Canada and Division 1 is the fourth rung competition. Out of 16 matches in the first round of the 50-over competition, eight of them have already been completed.
Budhayer will be the fourth Nepali cricketer to play cricket in Canada following in the footsteps of national team skipper Paras Khadka, Gyanendra Malla and Basanta Regmi. The trio had played in the Elite Division in two different clubs.
“Its a good opportunity for me to play competitive cricket in Canada because it will definitely help myself shape as a better cricketer. Our seniors Paras, Gyanendra and Basanta upped their performance following their stint in Canada and I am expecting the same,” said Budhayer.
Bloomfield is a club that Dassanayake owns in Toronto. Dassanayake is joining Nepali camp in their upcoming tour of England as the consultant coach. Bhari, who made into the national team for the ICC World Cricket League Championship home matches against Namibia in April, will play the 50-over Saturday League under the Cornwall Cricket League which runs until September 10. Both the players are scheduled to leave on Wednesday.
Khadka, also a general secretary with CPAN, said Bhari’s brief stint in England will provide him a much-needed exposure. “He is one of the rising cricketers of the country and playing a competitive game will bring the best out of him,” said Khadka.
