Landslide sends people fleeing from homes

A massive landslide occurred at Surungebhir of Sunkhani VDC-6 in Dolakha on Tuesday night, prompting at least 100 families to flee from their homes and spreading fear of further landslides in the area.

VDC Secretary Bharat Paudel said around 100 families fled their homes in Kalipokhari and Bhatteli as the landslide took place close to their settlements.

The villagers returned on Wednesday morning but they are still fearful of possible disaster.

In Parbat, a landslide has buried the building of Janasahayogi Secondary School in Shankarpokhari VDC-4. The incident which took place on Monday was only known on Wednesday as the school is located at a remote location. 

Similarly, a landslide on Sunday buried a powerhouse of Sadhkhola Hydropower Project at Bajhkhet VDC-2 in Lamjung district.
