Wife, daughter convicted in ex-lawmaker’s murder
The Saptari District Court has convicted wife and daughter in the murder of former lawmaker Sadrul Miya. Sardul, who was elected as an independent candidate in the first Constituent Assembly from Saptari 5, was found dead at his petrol pump in Kalyanpur-2 in Saptari district three years ago. He owned a petrol pump and a brick kiln.
The single bench of Judge Mahendra Prasad Pokharel on Tuesday passed the verdict against Nurjaha, Rubeda and one Abdul Rauf. The court sentenced Rauf of Lahan-5 also to life imprisonment
with the confiscation of his property.
The Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police arrested the trio a few days after the incident. Rubeda’s lover Jamirul Shekh, an Indian national who is considered the mastermind of the crime, and Anul Shekh of Siraha are still at large.
Police investigation found that Rubeda had hatched a plot to murder her father as he was against the relation between Rubeda and Jamirul.
