The Bishnumati cleaning drive was launched on May 29, 2014 following a successful Bagmati Mega Clean-up Campaign which was started on May 18, 2013 at the initiative of former chief secretary Leelamani Paudyal. The Bagmati Mega Clean-up Campaign has reached its 165th week.
On Saturday, solid waste from extracted from Budhanilkantha, Balaju, New Bus Park, Chamati, Shobha Bhagawati, Dallu, Damai Tole, Tankeshwor and Kuleshwor sections of the Bishnumati river, according to campaign controller Anil Dharel.
Minister for Urban Development Manju Kumari Chaudhary, former chief secretary Paudyal, former secretary Kishor Thapa, KMC Chief and Executive Rudra Singh Tamang, Rajesh Prasad Singh of the Bagmati Civilisation Integrated Development Committee, Army and police personnel, government officials, students and people from different walks of life participated in the Saturday’s clean-up drive.
