A four-member team led by Dr GC Khilnani of Pulmonary Department at AIIMS advised Nepali doctors on Koirala’s health. Dr Hari Kishore Shrestha, managing director of Om Hospital, said the team was satisfied with the treatment and advised them to make Koirala walk.
“His health has improved drastically. So now we will focus on mobility,” said Dr Shrestha. “He has started having solid food and juice.”
He said they will soon shift Koirala to the general ward although they fear that
the flow of well-wishers
might be hard to manage while also exposing the patient to infections.
The vitals including blood pressure and body saturation of Koirala are said to be under control. A team of 15 doctors led by Dr Laba Joshi had been attending to Koirala.
Koirala was rushed to the hospital in Chabahil on Tuesday night after he complained of abdominal discomfort and shortness of breath. On Wednesday morning after he inhaled food particles, he was immediately shifted to the Intensive Care Unit and was put on ventilator and other life support systems.
