Earlier this week, SLMM allies and some Janajati parties had announced to support the Nepali Congress and the CPN (Maoist Centre) in the latter’s bid to topple the incumbent government under Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
Sanghiya Samajbadi Forum-Nepal Chairman Upendra Yadav, who also coordinates the larger alliance of fringe Madhesi and Janajati forces, said that they would participate in the parliamentary process until the voting on the motion.
“We will vote in support of the motion. We will continue to boycott rest of the process like before,” Yadav said.
The Madhes-based parties, which have 39 seats in Parliament, agreed to support the no-confidence motion after NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba and Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal made a written commitment to address their demands, including revision of the federal boundaries. But some SLMM ally, including the Mahanta Thakur-led Tarai Madhesi Loktantrik Party, have asked the two parties come up with a clear proposal on addressing their demands.
