Pratik Shrestha, 19, and Alin KC, 23, of Kathmandu had been missing after a boat capsized in the lake on Monday. Six people had been rescued immediately after.
Inspector Mohan Mani Adhikari of the Ward Police Office, Baidam said the bodies were floating on the lake. Rescuers from Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and boat operators had been carrying out the search.
Seven of the victims were holidaymakers from Kath-mandu whereas the eighth victim was the boat operator. None of them was wearing a life-jacket at the time of the accident, police said.
3 drown, one goes missing
KATHMANDU: Three persons have drowned and one has gone missing in separate incidents in Mahottari, Taplejung and Nuwakot districts in the past two days. A girl identified as Daraksa Nuri was swept away by the Jangha stream at Basbitti in Mahottari on Thursday, said police. In Taplejung, one Diwas Limbu went missing after being swept away by the flooded Mewa stream on Wednesday. In Nuwakot, Ramesh Bhujel and Om Man Shrestha drowned in the Trishuli river, police said.
