Second Nepal Higher Edu Fair kicks off today
Focusing on this niche student demographic, the Education.com, with the support of Islington College, is staging Nepal Higher Education Fair, the first-of-its-kind expo for students wishing to go to schools and colleges in the country that offer education of interational standard. There has been a notable rise in number of education fairs over past couple of years. And while a majority of these fairs promote colleges and universities from outside Nepal, students who wish to pursue higher studies in the country are not getting the counsel on what courses to take, nor the choice of colleges, as offered by your run-of-the-mill education expos.
Focusing on this niche student demographic, the Education.com, with the support of Islington College, is staging Nepal Higher Education Fair, the first-of-its-kind expo for students wishing to go to schools and colleges in the country that offer education of interational standard. The tow-day event kicks off Friday on the premises of Hotel Annapurna, with the slogan, “Learn Locally, fit globally”. Education.com Director Jeeven Lama Gole said the aim of the event is to promote domestic academic institutions that are competent enough to provide education of top quality and produce students who could compete globally.
“We only feature the academic institutions that have proved themselves,” Gole said.
With the growing number of students aspiring to acquire internationally-recognised degree, several schools and colleges in the country are operating under affiliations of renowned colleges and universities from the countries like the United Kingdom, Austrailia, and the United States of America. There are around two dozen such academic institutions in the country.
“One can now get international degree spending below Rs 1 million sitting in homeland which otherwise costs over Rs 3 million if taken abroad,” Gole said, making a case for how domestic institutions are getting competitive.
Forty academic institutions, mainly from the Kathmandu Valley, will feature their services from 50 stalls. The students coming to the fair can get every detail, including fee structure, scholarships, and scope of the course, from the representatives of respective colleges and universities.
Along with the information and counselling by the college representatives, there will also be seminars to help students make better judgement while selecting colleges and courses.
The fair will also conduct a daily lucky draw in which four visitors could win smartphones.
