These outlets were either found selling date-expired products or operating without licence. The team crossed checked 13 outlets on Sunday.
“CG Mart was found stocking date-expired products. It also failed to produce official documents,” said Supply Ministry Spokesperson Ananda Ram Regmi. “We have asked the concerned to be present at Department of Supply Management in a week for clarification,” he said.
The inspection team sealed six of the inspected stores for selling substandard food items posing risk to the consumers’ health. These include Trinity College’s canteen at Dillibazaar and Tripureshwor-based Bagmati Sweets.
The team also sealed Lalitpur General Practice Clinic, Lagankhel Polyclinic, Ayush Pharmacy in Lagankhel and Health Link Reliable Lab and Clinic.
Of these, Ayush was found selling narcotics without prescription, while rest did not have operating permits.
Sulav Superstore of Naya Bazaar, Non Stop 365, Organic Kitchen Mart and Triveni Beverage Industry of Balaju, and Kalika Dairy of Bageshwori, Bhaktapur, were also grilled.
Non Stop 365 was found charging exorbitant prices, while Organic Kitchen Mart was found selling medicine products without licence.
