Police have arrested a man on charge of misusing credit card of a foreign national.Police have arrested a man on charge of misusing credit card of a foreign national.
The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) arrested Tejendra KC, 32 of Baglung on August 17, who was found using the credit card of a Japanese national to buy expensive mobile phones.
According to SP Dibesh Lohani, spokesperson for the CIB, KC had got credit card details from his friend in Japan. “He then used it to shop expensive mobile phones of various brands online,” said SP Lohani. “KC purchased phones from Neoteric Nepal using online payment system of Himalayan Bank.”
The Japanese bank which had issued the credit card had lodged a complaint at Himalayan Bank, stating that the Japanese national’s card was being misused.
The CIB arrested KC based on the CCTV footages and other transaction details.
KC was buying mobile phones using the credit card and giving them to his friends who he owed money.
“The arrestee was also found to have duped many people with the promise of sending them to Japan,” said the CIB. The law enforcement agency has made an appeal to the general public to be careful while using their credit cards and not to reveal the details to unknown persons.
