Shrestha picked as NPC vice-chair

According to government Spokesman Surendra Karki, a Cabinet meeting on Thursday picked Shrestha for the top NPC post. The position had been vacant after Yubaraj Khatiwada resigned following the ouster of the KP Sharma Oli-led Cabinet. Shrestha holds a Master’s in Public Administration from TU, MBA from Hult International Business School in the UK and PhD in Economics from Australia.
Minister for Information and Communications Karki said the meeting also decided to appoint Dr Shriram Poudel as Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s economic adviser and former ambassador to Malaysia Rishi Adhikary as the PM’s foreign affairs adviser.
The Cabinet promoted joint-secretary duo Lok Prasad Acharya and Purna Chandra Bhattarai to secretary. The government decided to reduce the charges for Nepalis working especially in the Gulf and Malaysia to renew their passports.
