Government transfers 12 secys

The government on Sunday transferred a dozen secretaries and approved the resignation of Managing Director of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Mukesh Raj Kafle.

Under pressure to resign from Energy Minister Janardan Sharma, Kafle tendered his resignation to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Friday. Secretary at Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport Arjun Kumar Karki has 

been transferred to the Office of Nepal Trust, according to Minister for Information and Communications Ram Karki.  

Dhan Bahadur Tamang, secretary at the Ministry of Water and Energy has been transferred to the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport; Secretary at the Ministry of Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation Prem Kumar Rai has been replaced by Shankar Prasad Adhikari. Rai takes up his seat at the Ministry of Supplies.

Western Regional Administrator Gopinath Mainali has been transferred to the Election Commission (EC), while Secretary Sharada Prasad Trital at the EC has been transferred to the Ministry of Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation.

Secretary at the Ministry of Supplies Shreedhar Sapkota has become new Defense Secretary. Laxman Prasad Mainali has been transferred from the Ministry of Youth and Sports to the Ministry of Labour and Employment, while Secretary at Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare Madhu Regmi has been transferred to the Public Service Commission (PSC).

Similarly, Labour Secretary Bishnu Lamsal has been transferred to the Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare; Defense Secretary Mahesh Kumar Dahal has been transferred to the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and Bhim Upadhyay, secretary at the Office of Nepal Trust, has been transferred to the Water and Energy Commission.
