RCT defeat Satdobato

KATHMANDU: Rani-pokhari Corner Team (RCT) earned a crucial 1-0 victory over Satdobato Youth Club to go top of Martyrs Memorial ‘B’ Division League on Thursday. Bir Tamang’s third minute goal was enough for RCT to leapfrog New Road Team on top with 15 points from seven matches. NRT have played a game less and have 14 points. In another match, Bansbari Club edged Tushal Youth Club 1-0 with Sunil Bishwokarma scoring the winner. Boys Union Club pipped Mahabir 1-0 on a Ganesh goal. (PR)

U-14 Ranking tennis tourney 

KATHMANDU: Prerana Koirala of Nepal and Lakshanya Bishwanath of India won the Circuit 2 girls’ doubles under the Kesha Group ANLTA Asian Junior Tour U-14 Ranking Tournament on Thursday. In the final, the duo defeated Nepali pair of Ira Rawat and Abhilasha Bista 6-4, 4-6, 11-9. India’s Arnav Pathange and Ambitious won the boys’ doubles final with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Saharsha Chand and Aadit Subedi of Nepal. Rawat and Bista, meanwhile, entered girls’ singles final. Ira defeated Koirala 6-3, 7-6 and Bista inflicted a double bagel on Saloni Tamang. Arnav and Samyak Bhushan Bajracharya of Nepal entered the boys’ single final. (PR)

Chulachuli in semi-finals 

LALITPUR: Chulachuli English Boarding School of Jhapa entered the boys’ semi-finals of the Coca-Cola Cup National Inter-school football tournament with a slim 1-0 victory over Hims of Kathmandu. Bikki Lumbu’s 63rd minute winner put Chula Chuli through. Bhanubhakta Memorial School of Morang, Shree Halchowk HS School of Kathmandu and Scholars’ Home of Rupandehi are other teams to reach the last four. In the only girls’ match of the day, Bal Kalyan HS School of Morang defeated Shankar Saraswoti Annapurna of Kailali 2-0. (PR)

Xavier, Trinity enter semis 

KATHMANDU: Xavier International College and Trinity International College advanced to the girls’ semi-finals of the seventh BernHardt Cup Inter-college Basketball Tournament on Thursday. Xavier defeated New Summit 27-14 and Trinity overcame Little Angels 30-12. In the boys’ section, Trinity hammered Ideal Model 59-29, Prime crushed Gyan Niketan 59-27, Times dispatched Sainik Awasiya Mahavidhyalaya 59-17, Morgan beat Little Angels 47-32 and Xavier routed Sann 65-39.
