One of the demands put forth by Dr KC when he went on eighth fast-unto-death in July was impeachment of Lokman Singh Karki, chief of the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), and Raj Narayan Pathak, a commissioner at the anti-graft body.
He had called off the hunger strike on July 25 after 16 days after the government agreed to address some of his demands. Withdrawing a bill on Manmohan Memorial Institute of Medical Sciences and endorsement of Health Profession Education Bill were among his other demands. Dr KC said he decided to go ahead with the hunger strike after the government “failed to initiate the process” in regards to CIAA chief’s issue. “The CIAA has long been interfering in the medical education sector,” said Dr KC. “The government should at least begin the impeachment process.”
