The new venue has been constructed, with the support from a popular Myanmar rock singer, She, and monk and musician, Win Min Htwe, in Tamang Basti, at a three km distance from the Nagarkot main chowk.
The Seloghar will host cultural programmes and drama staging and trainings for children and women in the region. A Seloghar is a traditional venue for some ethnic communities, most prominently Tamangs to congregate for music, dance and social events.
The Seloghar was inaugurated by the Ambassador of Myanmar to Nepal, U Lwin Oo. “We hope the newly-constructed Seloghar will act bridge for the already strong bond between Nepal and Myanmar,” said ambassador Oo, “We are proud to lend our hand for the construction of this heritage in the quake-affected region.”
During the inauguration function, artist She, who is in the country currently, performed some of her well-known songs. “To be here, it seems to me, I am in a village of my dream; I am very happy to be associated with Nepal,” she said.
The Seloghar was constructed with the effort of Chairperson of NRN Myanmar Sagar Ghimire and Nepal-Myanmar Maitri Parishad.
