The night bus (Ga 1 Kha 6169), belonging to Dhorpatan Transportation Entrepreneurs’ Association, swerved off the road and overturned near Yamdi bridge at around 5:30am. Deputy Superintendent of Police Gajusiddi Bajracharya said the speeding bus lost control while overtaking another vehicle. The bus was enroute to Burtibang of Baglung from Kathmandu.
The deceased have been identified as Manrupa Aryal, 45, of Neta in Gulmi district and her two-year-old grandson Archit Aryal.
Passengers and staff of another bus, which reached the site immediately after the incident, rescued the victims and took them to hospital. Nineteen of the injured are receiving treatment in Manipal Teaching Hospital, while four others have been admitted to Gandaki Medical College. A passenger, who sustained a minor injury, returned home after treatment.
