A house was swept away by a flood of Puma stream in Beshisahar-13, Lamjung on Sunday night.
Police said the flood swept away the house and shop belonging to local Dal Bahadur Tamang. Dhanmaya, wife of Dal Bahadur, said her seven-member family has been displaced after the flood. “The flood has swept away properties worth around Rs150,000,” she said. Chief District Officer Mohan Bahadur GC said the vehicular movement along the Manang road resumed from Monday evening.
Police said about a dozen houses in Beshisahar-13 are at high risk of flood. Locals said the stream had also swept away a wooden bridge and damaged several houses on September 7.
Lalpurbani village at risk of erosion
TIKAPUR: Lalpurbani Village in Kailali is at high risk after Patharaiya River started eroding land on western side of the village. The river has been eroding land after the construction of embankment on the Rani Jamara Kulariya Project on the eastern side of the river. Local Bhupal Chaudhary called on the local authority to construct embankment to control land erosion. A total of 149 families live in the village. VDC Secretary Yemunadatta Joshi said locals have demanded the Rani Jamara Kulariya Project construct embankment.
