Preps on to ensure smooth traffic flow
Oct 4, 2016-
Preparations, including maintenance of road, building of retaining walls, security arrangements and clearance of disturbances along the Narayangad-Muglin road section are in full swing to ensure smooth flow of traffic in view of the Dashain festival.
The concerned authorities have expedited maintenance of the road section where over 9,000 vehicles pass daily.
According to Engineer Shiva Khanal, the potholes along Aapatari Chowk, Jugedi, Gaighat and Muglin are being filled and blacktopped. Similarly, three tankers have been mobilised to subdue dust to facilitate the vehicles plying the roads during the festival, said Khanal. The road authorities have also mobilised human resources and equipment to keep the road section clear of the disturbances like the mud mould, defunct vehicles parked on roadsides, rocks among others. Although 11 places have been identified as landslide prone zones along the road section, no landslides have been reported in 10 of those places in the last 40 days, Khanal explained. Retaining walls are being built at 32 places along the road to minimise road accidents. Installation of traffic signs is also undertaken to ease traffic congestion during the festival.
Moreover, security personnel have been deployed at various places across the road section to ensure safety to the passengers, said Superintendent of Police Basanta Bahadur Kunwar. The armed security personnel will escort the vehicles to and from the Bharatpur-Muglin section, he assured.
