Locals of Sirbani in Beltarbasaha Municipality-3 of Udayapur district stage a demonstration to protest the murder of Bhim Kumari Katuwal by placing her body outside Beltar Area Police Office on Thursday.
Police resorted to baton charge and fired several rounds of tear gas to contain the angry mob who tried to storm inside the police office. The situation was tense throughout the day.
The demonstrators have demanded stern action against her murderer, her brother-in-law whom police identified as Subash.
Bhim Kumari’s friends and relatives have claimed that her husband, Rajendra, was also connected in her murder and demanded that he too must be brought under investigation.
Rajendra is a police head constable while Subash is a former police constable.
Twenty-eight-year-old Bhim Kumari was allegedly murdered by Subash on Sunday.
Her body was found buried inside Betana forest in Belbari, Morang, on Tuesday.
Police Inspector Meghraj Thapa of Belbari Area Police Office said that after murdering Kumari, Subash had visited his in-laws in Damak, Jhapa, where he tried to
take his own life by drinking poison.
Thapa said Subash had also attacked his wife, mother-in-law and sister-in-law.
He is currently undergoing treatment at BP Koirala Institute of Health and Sciences in Dharan.
Police have detained Bhim Kumari’s husband, Rajendra, her mother-in-law and
two brothers-in-law for
questioning.
