‘PM fails to deliver on promises’
CPN-UML Vice-chairman Bhim Rawal on Saturday said Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal had failed to keep his word on providing relief to the earthquake survivors.CPN-UML Vice-chairman Bhim Rawal on Saturday said Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal had failed to keep his word on providing relief to the earthquake survivors.
Speaking at the Reporters’ Club, former defence minister Rawal said the PM had said he would provide additional Rs100,000 to each family rendered homeless by the devastating quakes last year even by taking loan from India but he was yet to provide the announced relief.
All the promises including developing bigger projects, maintaining law and order and checking inflation had gone in vain during his three months in office.
Acknowledging that the Indian president’s visit had helped strengthen bilateral relations, Rawal criticised the government’s decision to announce a public holiday on Pranab Mukherjee’s arrival on Wednesday and obstructing the movement of people and vehicles of essential services to clear the road for the state visit.
Rawal accused the Dahal-led government of spreading rumours of amending the constitution.
“The government has failed to clarify which provisions are to be amended and why,” he said, adding that the government had not discussed the amendment proposal with the parties.
He also accused the government of not being serious about elections.
The earlier KP Sharma Oli-led government had announced a time-bound plan for holding the three elections but the incumbent government had not come up with a new plan to implement the constitution.
