The body of Harsha Bahadur Khatri who died in Saudi Arabia four years ago was brought to Kathmandu on Monday.
Harsha, who hailed from Sitapur VDC-7 of Banke, had gone to Saudi Arabia in 2010 to work for a marble company. He was 20 at the time. He was killed in a road accident on 3 March 2012.
His body was finally brought home with the help of Foreign Employment Promotion Board
“We will take the body home by Tuesday and perform the last rites,” said a neighbour who had come to receive the body in Kathmandu.
While Harsha’s family members have been deeply affected by his untimely death, they are also relieved as their struggle to give him a proper funeral at home is finally coming to pass.
“We received the body after years of struggle. Now we can perform his funeral,” said Harsha’s father, Bir Bahadur.
The Khatri family had experienced difficulty bringing home Harsha’s body from Saudi Arabia because of he had been working in the country without proper documents, rendering his status as illegal.
Harsha, who had gone to Saudi Arabia to work for a marble company, had quit the job and was working as an illegal migrant at the time of his death.
