“A person acquiring naturalised citizenship cannot hold top posts like the President and those at the constitutional bodies. There is no provision in any country in the world to let naturalised citizens hold top constitutional posts,” Koirala said at a press meet in Dhangadhi on Tuesday.
Koirala stressed the need for a referendum to decide whether Nepal should be a secular or Hindu state.
“We have been demanding referendum considering that a country where 80 percent people are Hindus cannot be secular. The NC accepted secularism in the past only to bring the Maoists into the political mainstream,” Koirala added.
