Raju Raut, lab technician of the District Public Health Office, said the blood tests of the patients confirmed that they were suffering from dengue. “After dengue was detected, we have started an awareness campaign in Urlabari against dengue.” said Raut, adding that a DPHO team has also been mobilised to destroy mosquito breeding sites.
Meanwhile, the dengue spread in Damak, Jhapa, is yet to come under control, health officials said.
More than 200 people have been detected with dengue in Damak in past one month.
Dengue patients have also been found in Bardiya, with at least three dozen cases reported in last two weeks.
Dengue is an infectious disease usually contracted from mosquitoes belonging to the Aedes Aegypti genus. Its symptoms range from mild fever to incapacitating high fever, with severe headache, pain in muscles and joints, and rashes.
