Semi low-floor buses are children, elderly and disabled friendly as they don’t have to climb steps while getting on.
Mahendra Raj Pandey, chief executive officer of Sajha Yatayat, said, the cooperative transport company is currently estimating the cost. “We hope to invite global tender by the end of this month to procure these vehicles,” said Pandey.
The semi low-floor bus will have 40 seats and can accommodate up to 90 passengers.
Sajha Yatayat has also announced that it will bring 10 deluxe buses which will be operated on long routes.
Currently Sajha Yatayat has a fleet of 46 buses. With the addition of 30 buses for Valley transport, 38 will be providing services in the Capital. The transport company is operating eight buses on long routes to Gorkha, Birgunj, Baglung and Lumbini from Kathmandu.
