The government is preparing to declare the date of local polls as soon as the constitution amendment proposal bill is registered in Parliament.
The meeting of the headquarters held on Monday morning at Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s residence in Lazimpat decided to hold the party’s politburo meeting on November 26 and 27 to discuss organisational issues and make necessary preparations for the local elections.
However, the party’s national gathering, which has been postponed several times, would be held only after the local polls. Giriraj Mani Pokhrel, a member of the party headquarters, said it was not possible to hold the national gathering before the local polls.
Meanwhile, leaders claimed that the meeting has not authorised Chairman and Prime Minister Dahal to take decisions on the amendment proposal.
The PM’s secretariat had said Monday’s meeting entrusted Dahal with the responsibility to take a call on the constitution amendment proposal.
He said the party headquarters would meet on Tuesday to discuss the issues of amendment.
