Cine artists gear up for Nefta

The ninth edition of the Nefta (Nepal Film Technician Awards) is slated to be held in Dubai, UAE, on December 23.
The current edition of one of the few cine awards in the country will see over 100 actors, technicians, and media personalities, attend the ceremony to be held at Al Nasr Leisureland in Dubai.
Speaking to the Post about the upcoming ceremony, Puskar Lama (Prem Bhomjan), president of Nefta, expressed his excitement and vowed to make the event a success. “By organising the ceremony in the UAE, amid a huge number of Nepali immigrants, we aim to instill a sense of belongingness in the audience,” said Lama, “Moreover it is an effort to expand the Nepali cinema in the international market.”
Nefta, after regular screenings of Nepali movies that commenced with Bir Bikram, in the gulf countries last month, has triggered new hopes for the globalisation of Nepali film industry.
“We are all set for the ceremony and promise to make it a success,” claimed Lama. “As part of which, a host of cine artists are currently rehearsing for the performances.”
The event will see performances by actors such as Rajesh Hamal, Karishma Manandhar, Priyanka Karki, Sanchita Luintel, Nikhil Upreti, Nazir Hussein, Samragyi Shah, and Salon Basnet, among others.
The event in Dubai will be managed by Concept Vision Film Productions and Distributions. The ninth edition of the film awards is organised by Nefta in association with Spectrum Advertising and Media Consultant and Concept Vision.
The Awards will felicitate cine actors and technicians under 28 different categories. Nefta’s nominations were announced last month, with Classic receiving the highest number of nominations, including Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Story awards.
