Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Friday said naturalised citizens would not get top constitutional posts.Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Friday said naturalised citizens would not get top constitutional posts.
Refuting rumours of naturalised citizens qualifying for high offices after the planned second amendment to the constitution adopted last year, the PM said only the citizens by descent can be elected as a chief minister or the President, among other positions.
In a meeting with a delegation from the Kaski district, Dahal admitted though that the issue of citizenship was discussed during negotiations with major political forces on tabling a statute amendment proposal.
According to the PM, the government is working on a supplementary budget, in which development activities of Kaski district would get a priority. Conservation of lakes, construction of a zoo, a bus park and an international cricket stadium, and tourism development in Pokhara Valley were discussed at the meeting.
