Dhuku climb to top in Group ‘A’

KATHMANDU: Dhuku Futsal Hub provisionally climbed to the top of the Group ‘A’ with a 7-5 victory over Rajani Futsal in the Red Bull National Futsal League on Saturday. In their home match, Siddhant Basnet scored a hat-trick and man-of-the-match Muskan Lama added a brace for an important victory. Aayush Karki and Sushan KC scored twice each for Rajani. Dhuku lead the table with 21 points from 10 matches pushing Kickoff Futsal to second. Kickoff have 21 points from nine matches. (PR)

APF lift Surunga Gold Cup  

JHAPA: Nepal Armed Police Force (APF) Club claimed the Surunga Gold Cup title defeating Rupandehi XI 5-3 in tie breaker. The match was pushed to penalty shoot out after the normal 90-minute time ended on 1-1 stalemate. APF had taken a 64th minute lead through Rajendra Rawal before a 79th minute goal from Bimal Gharti Magar leveled the scores. The title triumph saw APF collect a cash purse of Rs 351,111, while Rupandehi got Rs 251,111. Bikram Lama of Rupandehi XI was named the best player of the tournament. (PR)

Double League date pushed back 

KATHMANDU: Dhorpatan Sports Training Centre on Saturday said it has postponed the Dhorpatan Blue Sky Women’s Double League Volleyball Championship that was slated to begin from December 24, 2016 to January 7, 2017. The organisers decided to postpone the tournament because it coincided with the seventh National Games, the country’s sporting extravaganza. The lucrative volleyball tournament of Nepal will now be played from January 7-21. A total of 10 teams will participate in the tournament. (PR) 

Nasa in girls’ semi-finals

KATHMANDU: Nasa International College entered the girls’ semi-finals of the first Rosebud Inter-college Valleywide Basketball Tournament on Saturday. Anisha Basnet tossed in 22 points as Nasa eased to a 33-10 victory over New Summit. In a boys’ section match, New Summit routed Columbus 56-21 riding on 20 points from Pabin Rai. (PR)

HHCA, Valley Public in final

KATHMANDU: Himalaya Happy Children Academy (HHCA) and Valley Public senior girls’ 3x3 title clash of the ninth Odyssey Cup Inter-school Basketball Tournament on Saturday. In the semi-finals, HHCA defeated Eden Bridge Academy 9-6 and Valley Public overcame Sridiwa 12-8. Golden Peak sidelined Innovative 34-22 and Greenland beat hosts Odyssey 27-21 in junior boys semis.
