The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Monday that it has been informed about the abduction of two Nepalis by armed gunmen in Darfur of Sudan and that its missions in New York and Geneva are in touch to assess the matter. “Nepal’s Permanent Mission to United Nations in New York and Permanent Mission in Geneva have been activated to find out more details and work to secure safe release of two UN refugee agency staffers,” Foreign Secretary Shanker Das Bairagi told the Post. Names of the abducted UN workers have not been disclosed, given the sensitivity of the matter.
