Stating that children cannot be deprived of their right to education, the CCWB has called on all concerned to ensure that protests must not violate their right to go to school.
Protests have flared up in different districts after the government decided to register a constitution amendment proposal seeking to split Province 5. A day after the amendment proposal was registered, protests erupted in Butwal on Wednesday, which disrupted normal life. Demonstrations were staged in different districts forcing shutdown of schools. Vehicular movement was also obstructed. While the political parties are entitled to hold protests and make their demands heard, they must ensure that others’ right, especially children’s right, is not violated, the CCWB said.
