Toronto Nepali Film Fest in April

For the forthcoming event, the organisers have announced a call for submission, issuing a press note on Tuesday. The annual film festival screens films that pertain to Nepal and is open to both Nepali and non-Nepali filmmakers from around the world.
“TNFF promotes all genres of Nepali films, including fiction, documentary, animations, shorts, experimental, and musical. TNFF celebrates films based on indigenous languages of Nepal such as Maithili, Newari, Limbu, Dhimal, and Gurung, among many others. TNFF also highly encourages the participation of women and members of marginalised communities,” reads the press note.
Moreover, the submitted film must include a subtitle in English and the film must pertain to Nepal or Nepalis.
TNFF 2017 Jury will select films based on merit and the content of the films. The jury will consider relevant Nepali narratives, methods of storytelling, new genres in the context of Nepali filmmaking, technical finesse, and other attributes of filmmaking in the selection process.
All films screened at the fest will be honoured based on the length of the film. An Audience Choice and Jury Choice award will also be presented at the end of the festival, which carry a monetary value of CAD$1500 and CAD$500, respectively.
The deadline for submission is December 12.
The two-day fest will draw to a close on April 2, at Mississauga, in Ontario, Canada.
