In a burglary amounting to millions, thieves made away with Rs3.4 million in cash and 478.22 gram gold from a house in Lalitpur early Saturday morning.
Burglars broke into the house in Mahalaxmisthan and overpowered seven people before fleeing with the goods and cash worth Rs6 million.
According to police, three persons entered the house of Jarna Bahadur Rai after breaking the front door lock. SSP Pitamber Adhikari, chief of the Metropolitan Police Range, Lalitpur, said the money belonged to Rai’s son-in-law Jitendra Lal Shrestha, who was planning to purchase a piece of land in Godavari. Police said a search team aided by dogs was deployed for a manhunt.
