Nepali Congress leader and Foreign Minister Prakash Sharan Mahat came down heavily on the CPN-UML leadership on Monday for creating unnecessary hurdles in amending the constitution.
“When UML Chair KP Sharma Oli signed as approval a similar proposal it was fine then. But how is an almost identical proposal [on state restructuring] not in the best interest of the nation now,” Mahat said at a programme in the Capital on Tuesday.
Urging the main opposition to help the government pass the amendment bill, Mahat said the proposal would end the current political and be crucial to implementing the statute. “It is a document of compromise. If everyone sticks to their stance, we will never move ahead,” said the foreign minister.
