Bikash Tiwari, chairman of Sadbhawana Party (Gajendrawadi), has been staging a hunger strike for the past 13 days, demanding reforms and better services at Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital in Rajbiraj, Saptari.
On Monday, a probe team formed by the Ministry of Health visited the hospital to inquire about the issue. Among the demands pressed by Tiwari is filling the vacant positions. The hospital has 26 doctor positions including 19 specialists. However, only eight doctors are working at the 50-bed hospital.
Tiwari has claimed that many people who visit the hospital are being referred elsewhere due to inadequate number of doctors.
