At a press conference on Friday, the CPN-UML-affiliated Youth Association Nepal decided to extend the protest.
The protest will initially be staged until Monday, they said, and the next phase of protest programme will be announced after the completion of the first round.
The All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU), along with others, staged a demonstration of athletes at New Baneshwor on Friday.
The unions will submit a memorandum at the Foreign Ministry for an end to foreign intervention on Saturday, follow that up with a race rally from Maitighar to New Baneshwor on Sunday and street debate on Monday.
She argued that the proposed amendment bill would disintegrate the country and said the agitation was being launched for making Nepal independent and sovereign. Youth Association Chairman Rajiv Pahari and Nepal Revolutionary Students’ Association Chairman Niroj Lawoju vowed to continue their agitation until the amendment bill is withdrawn.
