Rajapur Municipality shut over local restructuring proposal
Dec 13, 2016-
The residents of Khairichandanpur VDC, Bardiya, have called for an indefinite banda in Rajapur Municipality to protest the recommendation of the Local Level Restructuring Committee (LLRC) to incorporate the VDC under the proposed Geruwa village council.
The banda has affected transportation, education and businesses activities in the municipality.
The agitated villagers blocked the Gulariya-Rajapur-Kothiyaghat road on Monday, demanding that the VDC must be included in Rajapur Municipality as per the previous recommendation made by the technical committee of the LLRC.
“Khairichandanpur meets all the standards to become part of Rajapur Municipality. Our protest will continue until the LLRC has revised its proposal,” said Madhav Nigam, one of the protesters.
The villagers had also called an indefinite banda in Khairichandanpur and its vicinity demanding that the VDC be included in Rajapur Municipality two weeks ago. They had postponed their protest after the officials agreed to organise an all-party meeting on November 29.
