Kirati’s statement comes at a time when major parties are considering to go ahead with the current structure, citing complications under the restructured local level.
Addressing a press meet in Biratnagar on Thursday, Kirati, who is considered close to Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, said the party’s Province 1 committee would boycott the “regressive” local polls held under the old structure of kingdom of Nepal.
He claimed that the NC, the UML, the RPP and the Madhesi Morcha were trying to hold local elections under old monarchial structure. He accused that the move was a ploy to leave all the political achievements, including republican set up and federalism.
He also expressed his surprise at Madhesi Morcha’s readiness to go for the polls under the old structure. Arguing that the polls held under the existing structure could be dangerous, he urged P M Dahal not to be dragged into the plot of regressive forces.
