CJ calls for swift justice to women

- Post Report, POKHARA

Dec 18, 2016- Chief Justice Sushila Karki has called for swift decisions on cases related to women.

“Cases regarding women should be settled on time through fast track by ensuring continuous hearing process. The court should ensure speedy justice to women, as they often are victims of injustice,” said CJ Karki during a programme organised in Pokhara on Saturday.
Stating that the delayed justice or justice after death is meaningless, the chief justice expressed her dissatisfaction at unnecessary delays and added that some cases drag on for 10 years.
“We believe the state should exempt court fee for poor and helpless women to make justice accessible to them,” she said. During the programme “Woman’s Access to Justice and Coordination among Stakeholders”, CJ Karki gave directives to the judges of High Court of Province 4 and Kaski District Court to complete hearing and justice delivery within three months when the cases are related to women.
