Upper Mustang has been cut off from other parts of the district after a heavy flood on Saturday night swept away eight wooden bridges along the Jomsom-Lo Manthang-Korala road stretch.
The flood at Ghami VDC area obstructed the road after the bridges were swept away by the flood and boulders fell on the road, Chief District Officer (CDO) Bhim Prasad Pokhrel said.
No other major damages were reported in the flood that was possibly caused by an avalanche, he added.
A police team from the Lo Manthang Area Police Office was deployed to inspect the damage caused by the flood.
Upper Mustang is populated by around 3,000 people but at this time of the year, a majority of them migrate to Pokhara, Myagdi, Kathmandu or India because of extreme cold.
CDO Pokhrel reckons that there could be no more than 500 people in Upper Mustang currently.
