Aradhana is Poudel’s third anthology of songs, following Akankshya and Abhasit Aalap.
Poudel, who has been writing lyrics for the past 30 years, has been honoured with the Outstanding Lyricist Award conferred by Radio Nepal; the lyricist is also the recipient of the title honour at Nepal Pragya Partisthan’s poem competition, 15 years ago.
A journalist by profession, Poudel, who has designed covers for more than 500 books, has been working at the Radio Nepal for the past two decades.
The album was released amid a close circle of Poudel’s family and friends. Speaking to the Post, Poudel said, “I don’t like to bring a lot of people together and torture them with my speech, so I released my album on this trip with my family and it has been really exciting.” He added, “Today the whole music scene has changed, so I have tried to give a modern touch to the songs, some written two decades ago.”
The album comprises a total of eight songs that feature artists like Shishir Yogi, Gnnesh Pagajuli, Yashoda Parijali, and Shiva Pariyar, among others; the songs have been composed by Bulu Mukarang, Silabhadur Moktan, BB Anuragi, and Raju Singh.
