The Indian government has expressed concern over Nepal Airlines’ carrying Indian travellers without checking their original government-issued ID to confirm their Indian nationality. The southern neighbour raised this point during the Nepal-India aviation talks held in New Delhi on Wednesday. According to Nepali government officials, the Indian side has urged Nepal’s national flag carrier to check the government-issued ID before issuing air tickets. Indian travellers not possessing such ID should be sent to the Indian Embassy. Currently, a fine of IRs100,000 is imposed if Nepal Airlines is found issuing tickets to Indian travellers who do not hold government-issued ID cards.
