“Agreement will be reached in package once I return to the Capital, and the election date will be announced soon,” said PM Dahal, while inaugurating the Agriculture Modern-isation Project in Kailali on Wednesday. He said the government is preparing to announce the election date following an agreement among the major parties over the issues that are to be decided by Parliament.
Dahal, who is also the chairman of CPN (Maoist Centre), claimed that efforts were being made to bring the main opposition CPN-UML on board the constitution amendment process by revising the proposal registered at the Parliament Secretariat.
Earlier addressing a party gathering in Dhangadhi, Dahal said he would not push for a forceful endorsement of the amendment proposal. He said all the political parties should own up the amendment proposal. “Nepali Congress, Madhesi parties everyone should take responsibility of the proposal. I will initiate for the resumption of House business on my return to Kathmandu.”
Dahal, however, said the proposal would not be withdrawn at any cost. “The proposal will not be withdrawn irrespective of its approval or rejection,” he declared, expressing hope that the UML would soon agree to resume the parliament business.
BRB for directly-elected executive head
Coordinator of Nayashakti Nepal Baburam Bhattarai has said that the constitution amendment bill registered at the Parliament Secretariat should be revised. “The amendment proposal cannot resolve the problem. It needs to be revised,” Bhattarai told the reporters in Birendranagar on Wednesday. “So I have suggested the 10-state model. If it is also not possible to make a separate state from Kanchanpur to Nawalparasi which has Tharu majority.” He also warned of a political instability unless there is a provision of directly-elected executive head.
