Cabinet meeting: Secys transferred, nod to provincial civil service bill
The Cabinet on Thursday transferred four secretaries. Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya, secretary at the Ministry of Information and Communications, replaces Gurung at the PMO, according to government Spokesman Surendra Kumar Karki.
Mohan Kumar Sapkota, secretary at the Ministry of Land Reforms and Management, has been transferred to the Ministry of Cooperative and Poverty Alleviation. Krishna Prasad Devkota, chief of the Central Regional Administration, is the new secretary at the Land Reforms Ministry.
The Cabinet also approved in principle the bill related to formation, operation and the terms of service of the provincial civil service.
Spokesman Karki said the government would seek a solution through talks to the mass resignation of engineers mobilised for post-earthquake reconstruction. The engineers and technicians working in 11 districts had resigned en mass citing inadequate facilities.
The Cabinet meeting also decided to provide Rs7.5 million to the national football team.
It decided to upgrade the Shuklaphanta Wildlife Reserve into a national park. The meeting also decided to set up the Peace Fund and a separate health institution to manage organ donation.
The meeting appointed Robus Kusum Subedi as the general manager of Nepal Drugs Limited and Pramod Kumar Baidya as the chairman of the Appeal Committee of the Kathmandu Valley Development Authority.
The meeting also discussed the status of the constitution amendment bill and elections of the local level.
On the obstruction of Parliament, PM Dahal said the main opposition CPN-UML should let the House function.
He remarked that there were conspiracies against federalism, secularism and inclusiveness, stressing the need for unity and consensus among the political parties. Ministers expressed their views that the local elections should be held in order to institutionalise the latest political gains by implementing the new constitution.
