“An agreement will be reached in a package over the issues of constitution amendment, elections and impeachment. They (CPN-UML) have no alternative but to come to an agreement,” said PM Dahal in Ghartigaun, Rolpa, on Saturday. Dahal also urged the main opposition not to disrupt the House business.
Dahal, who is also the CPN (Maoist Centre) chairman, was in the district to inspect ‘Martyr’s Highway’ after inaugurating ‘Guerilla Trail’ in Chunbang, Rukum. He was accompanied by senior Maoist leaders Ram Bahadur Thapa, Barshaman Pun and Top Bahadur Rayamajhi. The PM said efforts were being made to create a Magarat cluster, including Rolpa and other
hill districts, through constitution amendment.
“The constitution amendment proposal has been registered after four-month-long preparation. Though it won’t address all their demands, the will certainly make Magar community happy to some extent,” said Dahal, adding that the amendment proposal attempted to make clusters of Magar, Tharu and Madhesi people.
Meanwhile, activists of the Nepali Congress and UML greeted PM Dahal with black flags in Ghartigaun, chanting slogans in protest of the government proposal to separate hill districts from Province 5.
Earlier in Dang, PM Dahal dismissed former king Gyanendra Shah’s recent remarks on the country’s political situation as “meaningless” “He [the deposed king] is simply growing restless,” he said. Expressing grave concern over the current state of political affairs, Shah on Wednesday had urged the people to safeguard the national unity.
