Speech impaired minor gang-raped

A speech-impaired girl, 14, was gang-raped at Jhapra VDC in Jajarkot district three days ago, it has been revealed.
Two local youths allegedly assaulted her while she was returning home from a local fair on Thursday.
According to police, the suspects had dragged her to the forest after taking her under control.
The victim had gone to the fair with her peers, who ran to their houses after the perpetrators caught their friend.
The girl’s family knew about the incident when she came home crying. They informed the police immediately. The suspects, aged 20 and 22, were arrested shortly afterwards.
The victim’s clothes were torn, said Police Inspector Hikmat Bohara, adding that doctors had confirmed the incident as rape. Police are preparing to file charges against the duo.
The Women and Children Development Office has provided Rs6,000 to the victim.
Shakuntala Acharya, chief of the government office, said they would take initiatives to protect the victim and provide justice to her.
